Juliénas Beauvernay

The vineyard  of Juliénas is spread over 580 hectares, across the villages of Juliénas, Jullié, et Pruzilly. AOC since 1938, Juliénas is one of the ten crus of Beaujolais. From the combination of its unique grape and its famous terroirs, is born a red wine, suitable for ageing.

The name Juliénas is said to comes from JULIUS CAESAR.

Our plot :

Location :  Juliénas is located on the granitic foothills of the High Beaujolais. This altitude vineyard is on a strong slope (between 20% to 45%). The land where grow our dear Gamay cépage are poor and optimal for the creation of high quality wines. The tannic power due to the undersoil has to be mastered to develop palatable wines.

Grape Variety :  Black Gamay

Soil and Subsoil :  Diversified granitic soil and subsoil on blue stones altered at shallow depth

Surface :  1Ha1419

Exposure : South

Plantation : 25Sq m79 in 1962, 29Sq m33 in 1982, 52Sq m07 in 2014

Récolte et Vinification

The grapes were manually harvested in 15 kilos open boxes on September 9th, 2018.

The grape harvest, at maturity and healthy, made it possible to realise the wine making process in optimal conditions. The wines were casked early October and matured in barrels for 9 months. They were then assembled to be bottled in July.

This first vintage is generous and gourmand, with a lingering finish that promises beautiful years to this Juliénas “Beauvernay” cuvée..
